Note: it has come to our attention that not all phone books are created equally. While this filebox will hold up several small town phonebooks (Florida Keys and Key West, for example), we find that big city phonebooks (Miami, for example) are using more pages of thinner paper which makes them relatively heavier for the same thickness and therefore they may overload the magnets capacity. The weight capacity depends mostly on how thick the steel is that the magnets are applied to. The magnets will hold much better on thicker metal. Thinner metal, or extra thick plastic coatings will reduce the weight capacity. Magnets do not stick to aluminum, copper, or stainless steel because there is no iron in these metals. |
